Agreement Between
Whitestone Therapy (me) and (you)
Venue
Sessions will be held at Whitestone premises (to be shared via email):
Duration of sessions
Each session lasts 50 minutes (sometimes called a “therapeutic hour”), unless we have agreed something different in advance.
Duration of therapy
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals. Therapy can be:
We will review progress regularly and decide together how to proceed. Many people work with me on a longer-term, open-ended basis.
Ending Therapy
Therapy usually ends when you feel ready. It is best to plan the ending together over one or more sessions. Planned endings help consolidate the work we have done.
Confidentiality
Everything you share in sessions is confidential in line with the BACP Ethical Framework / BCTP Code of Practice. In rare and exceptional circumstances I may need to break confidentiality, for example:
Booking and Regular Sessions
I will offer you a regular weekly (or agreed frequency) time slot wherever possible. If that is not available, we will arrange the next session in person, by text, or email. Consistency supports the therapeutic process, so I aim to keep changes to a minimum. If I offer several possible times, please note these may also be offered to other clients. Slots are allocated on a fair “first-come, first-served” basis (except in emergencies).
Session Timings (some important points)
Cancellations / Missed sessions – (client responsibility)
Many therapists charge the full fee for all late cancellations or missed sessions. My policy differentiates between standard daytime and high-demand out-of-hours appointments. Cancellation charges are applied consistently and are non-negotiable.
Commitment Needed from You
Best outcomes are associated with regular attendance (typically weekly) and willingness to engage with suggested reflections or activities between sessions. Commitment to the process makes a significant difference.
Planned Breaks and Absences
Therapy works best with minimal gaps, but of course holidays and other commitments happen. Please let me know as far in advance as possible if you will miss sessions. I will do the same.
Ethical Practice – My Commitment to You
All my work follows the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
Clinical Supervision & Ongoing Training – My Commitment to You
Like all BACP and BCTP-registered therapists, I regularly discuss my work (anonymously) with a qualified clinical supervisor. Your identity is never revealed. I also undertake regular further training to keep my practice up-to-date and effective.
Data Protection & Record-Keeping
Brief session notes and your contact details are stored securely—either electronically (password-protected) or in a locked filing cabinet. Only I have access. Full GDPR and data-protection policies are on my website - please read them.
Contact Between Sessions
Routine contact between sessions should be brief and logistical (unless we are working within an agreed Nexus Protocol arrangement). Therapeutic material is best addressed within sessions. If you need an urgent appointment, please let me know and I will do my best to arrange one.
Making Payment
Fees are payable at each session (or in advance for bank transfer). Prompt payment is much appreciated.
